Lhakpa Ri is usually quoted as the easiest 7000m peak. It sits just across the East Rongbuk Glacier from Mount Everest. The climbs starts at Mount Everest North Face Advanced Base Camp (6400m) and crosses the glacier where we set up camp I at 6500m. The route then climbs the slope next to Camp I to a brief plateau (6694m) before ascending abnother snow slope to the rock band (6960m). Fixed ropes help climb the rock band and then a brief snow slope to the summit ridge. More fixed ropes and a brief ascent leads to the summit (7001m). The view from the climb are spectacular with four 8000m peaks perfectly in view: Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu.
